WEST POINT – The US Military Academy has closed the facility to visitors from Friday evening until further notice because of the coronavirus.

Cadets, on spring break, were scheduled to return this Sunday, March 15, but officials have now pushed that back to Sunday, March 29.

Authorities are encouraging cadets, staff and faculty to practice heightened hygiene measures including individual screening, isolation for those who have traveled to specific areas of concern, implementing social distancing measures, and remove learning.

West Point officials said cadets should remain in contact with their chain of command for instructions on returning to the academy and reporting of travel.

Staff and faculty should contact their supervisors for the latest information regarding their work status, authorities said. If you do not feel well or are experiencing flu-like symptoms, do not come to work, they said.
