Austerlitz man arrested for rape

AUSTERLITZ – A Columbia County man was remanded to jail on two counts of first-degree rape and other charges following his arrest on Wednesday, March 11.

Authorities also charged Brendan Ryder, 25, with two counts each of criminal sex act and sexual abuse and four counts of aggravated sexual abuse.

In February a victim of sexual assault reported an incident that occurred in June 2019. Investigation revealed that Ryder allegedly raped and sexually abused the victim on June 12, 2019 in the Town of Austerlitz.

Ryder and the victim were familiar with one another.

Following his arrest, he was arraigned and remanded to the Columbia County Jail.

The investigation was conducted by the State Police in conjunction with the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office and Columbia County Child advocacy Center.
