Kingston couple arrested for felony drug possession on Thruway

PLATTEKILL – A Kingston couple was arrested minutes into Sunday morning March 8 after they were stopped on the Thruway in the Town of Plattekill for a vehicle and traffic violation.

The driver, Paige Sweeney, 20, was found in possession of some 1.8 grams of cocaine and drug paraphernalia containing cocaine residue.

She was charged with felony drug possession and a misdemeanor of manufacturing drug-related paraphernalia and released on an appearance ticket.

Her passenger, Jerry Igbinazaka, 35, was found in possession of 35.6 grams of cocaine. He was charged with one felony count of drug possession and a second count with intent to sell, both as felonies.

He was remanded to the Ulster County Jail without bail due to being a four-time convicted felony offender.
