HYDE PARK – In honor of National Women’s History Month, Senator Sue Serino is working to create opportunities for our future leaders to learn more about state government and the women who help make it work. On Friday, March 20, 2020, Senator Sue Serino invites local Girls Scouts and their troop leaders or guardians, to join her for an Open House at her Hyde Park District Office. This event will give local troops a unique opportunity to connect not just with their State Representative, but with one another as well.

“We have a duty to do all that we can to empower the next generation of female leaders, and that’s what this event is all about,” said Senator Sue Serino, who also happens to be the first woman elected to serve the 41st Senate District. “Someday, these girls will be making history themselves and as someone who was never interested in politics or government until much later in my life, I want to create an opportunity for them to learn more about state government so they can start to consider ways to get involved early on. Local Girl Scout troops do a tremendous job of spreading positivity and contributing to the success of our community, and this is also a way of saying ‘thank you’ to all who dedicate their time to do so.”

Girl Scouts in attendance will have the opportunity to tour the district office, talk with Senator Serino about her experiences in government, and learn more about the path she took to get there. Light refreshments will be served.

While an RSVP is not required to attend, it is appreciated. Please call the Hyde Park District Office at 845-229-0106 to RSVP today.
