NEWBURGH – Out of an abundance of caution, Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh is transitioning to online courses starting Thursday, March 12. Face-to-face classes are tentatively scheduled to resume on Monday, March 30.

There are no cases of coronavirus at the campus or anywhere in Orange County, but College President Dr. Jason Adsit said, “The health and safety of our students, staff and faculty are the Mount’s top priorities.”

Adsit said, “Given the trends of colleges in the region, we wanted to be proactive. It is important to take such precautions in situations like this for everyone’s wellbeing.”

In addition to moving to online classes, the college will suspend or reschedule college trips, and close the residence halls early.

The spring break will proceed as scheduled from March 14 through 22. Classes will continue online from March 23 through 27. Residence halls are tentatively scheduled to reopen on March 29 and face-to-face classes are tentatively scheduled to resume on March 30.
