ALBANY – As of late Monday morning, a total of 142 people have tested positive for the coronavirus and one of them is the executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Rick Cotton. He will be working from home for the next several days as he is under quarantine.

The Port Authority operates New York Stewart International Airport at Newburgh, John F. Kennedy International, LaGuardia and Newark Liberty International, as well as Teterboro Airport.

Of those testing positive, only eight are hospitalized and he made a point of saying there is a lot of hysteria about the situation, which is unnecessary, said Governor Andrew Cuomo.

“This is not e-bola, this is not SARS, this is not some science fiction movie come to life,” he said. “The hysteria here is way out of line with the actual with the actuality and the facts, but for a vulnerable population member, senior citizen, underlying illness, be careful, be careful, the way you would be careful with the flu.”

The governor warned hand sanitizer companies to be careful not to price gouge as demand spirals.

He now has the state prison system’s Corcraft Products manufacturing 100,000 gallons of hand sanitizer per week to be distributed to government entities, schools and other public entities.
