POUGHKEEPSIE – The body of a man was found after neighbors called for a “welfare check” on the tenant, Poughkeepsie City Police Detective Lt. Matt Clark said.

Police responded to 399 Main Street at approximately 4:36 p.m. Monday and discovered a man dead in one of the apartments.

The building contains six apartments and one commercial unit.

Detectives spent Monday evening interviewing the man’s neighbors.

Clark would not speculate on the cause of death and deferred to pending autopsy results.

The identity of the man has not been released pending notification of relatives.
