Connecticut man charged with rape in Columbia County

STOCKPORT – A 28-year-old Sharon, Connecticut man has been arrested for second-degree rape and criminal sexual act after he was located parked in a vehicle in the Town of Stockport very early Sunday morning with a child under the age of 15.

Investigators from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Branch determined that Timothy Humphrey, Jr., through interviews and his own admissions, had interacted with the child on social media and arranged to meet with the victim in Stockport. It was determined there was sexual activity in the vehicle, police said.

Humphrey was arrested and charged with the felonies as well as driving while intoxicated, operating with a blood alcohol content of more than 0.08 percent, and a traffic infraction for parking on a roadway.

He was arraigned and remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 bond.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office.
