RHINEBECK – Baby Maya Marie Martinez, the third daughter born to Kaitlyn Kaminsky, arrived less than an hour after the ball dropped welcoming 2020.
Weighing eight pounds, three ounces, Maya Marie was born at 12:57 a.m. on New Year’s Day at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck.
Kaminsky went into labor on New Year’s Eve around 6 p.m. while doing laundry in her Rhinebeck home. She and Maya’s dad, Alfredo Martinez, had just set up the baby’s Pack N Play and were listening to music.
Kaitlyn had forgotten what labor was like with her other daughters, ages 10 and 13, so she didn’t realize she was having contractions. “You think you’ll remember what it feels like, but you don’t,” she said.
Kaitlyn and Alfredo arrived at the hospital at 10 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and Maya Maria waited for the new year to make her grand entrance.
