NEWBURGH – Two people were stabbed and one was shot as the result of four incidents that spanned from Friday evening, December 27 through Sunday night, the 29th, in the City of Newburgh.

At 6:31 p.m. on Friday, December 27, city police were called to Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital for a report of a stabbing victim. The man was seemingly intoxicated and was able to tell investigators where the incident occurred.

His wounds were not believed to be life-threatening. The detective division is investigating the incident.

Less than a half hour later, police responded to a Shot Spotter activation that showed eight gunshots in the area of 103 William Street. While responding to that area, a separate Shot Spotter activation came in. That was in the area of 112 Williams Street indicating three gunshots.

Officers responded to the areas of the notifications and located one victim with a gunshot wound to his leg. Police said he was uncooperative at the scene and transported to the hospital. That incident is being investigated by the Non-Fatal Shooting Task Force.

On Saturday, December 28 at around 6:34 p.m., police responded to the area of 76 Courtney Avenue for a Shot Spotter activation. Officers were able to locate shell casings but did not find any victims. A canvass for witnesses who were cooperative was unsuccessful. That incident is under investigation by detectives.

He was initially uncooperative and then rushed into surgery due to receiving several stab wounds to his abdomen. He was reported in stable condition following the surgery.
