GREENBURGH – Action has been completed to address contamination related to the CRP-CSH Greenburgh site at 715 Dobbs Ferry Road in the Town of Greenburgh under the state’s Brownfields Cleanup Program. The cleanup has been or will be met shortly.

Cleanup activities were performed by CRP/CSH Greenburgh LLC with oversight from the State Department of Environmental Conservation.

The site is a 5 ½ acre parcel with a multi-story building and parking lot used as a senior living center.

The site is surrounded by a golf course to the north and west, commercial buildings to the south, and a utility right-of-way to the east.

The site’s use as a nursery and garden center resulted in contamination from several leaking fuel storage tanks in the soil and groundwater, which have been cleaned up under the Brownfield Cleanup Program.

The remediation included excavation and off-site disposal of about 18,500 tons of petroleum-impacted soil. Imported clean fill and crushed concrete from on-site demolition were used to replace the excavated soil and to establish the design grades at the site.

A newly constructed building, new asphalt parking lot, and landscaped areas have been placed and will be maintained to act as a cover system for any remaining contamination.

And a site management plan has been implemented for long-term management of remaining contamination.
