Mami is welcomed to Saugerties

SAUGERTIES – The recently formed non-profit organization Ulster County Canines, has rescued a five-year-old bully mix dog from Guatemala.

The dog, named Mami, was found starving on the streets of that country, taken in and nursed back to health by Mayan Dog Rescue. That group connected with Ulster County Canines through a mutual supporter, and Mami was sent to her new home where she arrived on Sunday.

Ulster County Canines, which specializes in the rehabilitation and adoption of dogs that display behaviors that often present barriers to adoption in traditional shelter settings, recently opened a boarding/training and dog rescue in Saugerties.
