MOUNT TREMPER – People who go to the Catskills Visitor Center will be able to get a bird’s eye view of the Catskill Park now that a fire tower has been erected there.

The State Department of Environmental Conservation spent $290,000 to have the facility, the first one at that location, purchased and installed, said Regional DEC Director Kelly Turturro.

“It was originally installed in Venice, Florida. Davana Fire Tower Restoration deconstructed it in Venice, brought it up here to New York and reconstructed it for us here at the Catskills Visitor Center,” Turturro said.

The visitors’ center is located at 5096 Route 28 in Mount Tremper.
