Ellenville man pleads guilty to illegal weapons possession

KINGSTON – An Ellenville man with a prior conviction for felony DWI in Sullivan County, plead guilty in Ulster County Court on Thursday to criminal possession of a weapon.

Joseph O’Reilly was arrested on April 18 after the Ulster County Probation Department conducted a home visit at his residence and, along with State Police, recovered a .223 caliber assault rifle along with three large capacity magazines, each containing 30 rounds of .223 ammunition.

The rifle had a flash suppressor, collapsible stock, pistol grip and detachable magazine loaded with 10 rounds of .223 ammo.

O’Reilly is scheduled to be sentenced in December.

He was sentenced to five years of probation for the 2017 conviction.
