MIDDLETOWN – The City of Middletown has experienced a double digit drop in crime so far this year.
Police Chief John Ewanciw said the numbers are a result of proactive policing.
“Up until the end of July, we are showing a 30 percent decrease in crime,” he said. “They have handled about 23,000-plus calls for service and made about 1,600 arrests so far. That is not reactive; it is definitely majority proactive.”
Middletown has continued its community policing approach by reaching out to the community to develop a positive relationship between the local residents and law enforcement.
