ALBANY – Days after Orange County’s elections commissioners slammed the state for not releasing the full funding the legislature approved to facilitate early voting this fall, the State Division of the Budget, Thursday, approved distribution of the $10 million.

“There was never any question that the full $10 million to support early voting would be made available, and the full amount has been approved today,” said State Budget Director Robert Mujica, Jr. “We look forward to the expanded access to the polls that early voting will provide voters this fall.”

The $10 million will be applied for reimbursements to counties for the early voting operations.

The new law requires every county in the state to provide voting stations eight days before the election starting this fall. The law requires at least one early voting station in every county for every 50,000 registered voters, though they do not need to have more than seven.
