MONTGOMERY – Applications are now available for grants from the Make a Difference Fund which was established by the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan Board of Directors nearly 10 years ago. This fund distributes grants annually to organizations in Orange and Sullivan counties that provide programs and services to children of low-income, disadvantaged or distressed families. Since its inception, a wide variety of area nonprofit organizations have received support from this fund for critical programs and services.

In honor of the 20th anniversary of the Community Foundation this year, the Foundation will distribute $20,000 in grants from the Make a Difference Fund. This year’s additional grants are made possible by individual donations during Hudson Valley Gives 2019, contributions from the Foundations founding contributors and support from David Kniffin of Healey Brothers Ford in Goshen.  Kniffin has created a year-long give back program with a $10 donation for each car he sells, with a match from Healey Brothers.

During this grant cycle, the Foundation is seeking applications for projects or programs with a focus on wellness, recreation and exercise. Grants of up to $5,000 are available to nonprofits in Orange and Sullivan Counties that meet the funds criteria. Applications must be received by 5:00 PM on Friday, September 6, 2019. The recipients and awards will be announced at the Foundation’s Annual Reception on November 20, 2019 at Anthony’s Pier 9 in New Windsor. Click here to view the full application.

The 2018 Make a Difference Fund grant recipients were Newburgh Armory Unity Center, Inc., Hudson Valley Seed, Inc., Time and the Valleys Museum, and Sullivan County Head Start, Inc.
