GOSHEN – A new political group has been formed in the region. Democratic Women of the Hudson Valley will aim to recruit more women to run for office in the area.
Its president, Mickey Morgano, said there are simply not enough women running for elective office in the Valley.
“Women are often behind the scenes, they do a lot of the grunt work, but we really need people who are out there running and all of us have done this,” Morgano said. “We have either run or we run campaigns, so our number one goal is to raise money to fund these campaigns because that is one of the major reasons people don’t run or aren’t successful. But, we also have a lot of experience in simply getting people on the ballot.”
The new group has been recognized by the New York State Federation of Democratic Women, which is under the auspices of the New York State Democratic Party.
