POUGHKEEPSIE – Firefighters in the City of Poughkeepsie were kept busy Monday with a series of calls.

A car fire at 80 Montgomery Street just before 4 p.m. resulted in burns to the operator, who was inside the vehicle when it caught fire, said Chief Mark Johnson.

He was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening burns while the blaze was extinguished. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the police department.

Firefighters also handled two separate kitchen fires; one at 28 Parker Avenue and on at 20 Muldowney Circle. Both fires were contained to the kitchen areas.

In addition to the fires, the department responded to 13 storm-related calls.
