Fire, believed started by fireworks, damages house, hurts two

CHESTNUT RIDGE – Firefighters responded to a structure fire in Chestnut Ridge Thursday night.

According to a Ramapo Police News release, it is believed that the fire was started by extinguished fireworks that were placed in garbage against the side of the residence.

Two of the residents were treated for minor injuries by Rockland Paramedics. One of them was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital.

The news release did not provide an address or time of the fire.

Ramapo Police were assisted by South Spring Valley FD, Spring Valley FD, Nanuet FD, Faist Ambulance, and Orange and Rockland.

The fire is under investigation by the RPD Investigations Division and Rockland County BCI-Arson unit.
