TOWN OF GOSHEN – Groundbreaking is today for the $300 million Amy’s Kitchen commissary in the Town of Goshen.

Construction will be done in stages and when completed, between 600 and 900 people will be hired.

Amy’s Kitchen, headquartered in California and named after Andy and Rachel Berliner’s daughter, has three other kitchen facilities, but this is the first one on the east coast.  Berliner said it is in an ideal location.

“Sixty percent of our business is east of the Mississippi and the Northeast in general, is by far, our best marketplace,” Berliner said. “This is right in the middle of it and our largest distributor has a big warehouse 10 minutes from here.”

That company is United National Foods in the Town of Montgomery.

Berliner said they hope to have the first phase of the 380,000 square foot building completed by the fall of 2020 with food production in 2021.

Amy’s makes over 250 food products including frozen meals, sauces and soups.

Empire State Development provided $6.8 million in incentives for this project and the New York Power Authority is providing a nearly 1.2 megawatt low-cost power allocation under the Governor’s ReCharge NY program.

“Our open-for-business approach to economic development is attracting transformative investments from leading companies like Amy’s Kitchen because we have the locations, business climate and workforce to help them succeed,” Governor Cuomo said. “As one of the largest development projects in the Mid-Hudson region in decades, this project will create hundreds of good jobs, boost the manufacturing industry and generate major economic opportunities for the local community.”
