NEWBURGH – Cherod Gayle, the Newburgh man who was gunned down early Saturday morning, June 8, will be buried following a funeral service today (Saturday).
Gayle, 20, was gunned down around 4 a.m. at about the same time as two other Newburgh men was shot and wounded. City Police continue to investigate both instances. Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler said he believes the killing of Gayle and the shooting of the other two are related.
A funeral service for Gayle will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Newburgh followed by interment at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Middle Hope.
His obituary said Gayle was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy who was “pursing to continue his education at Mohawk Valley Community College where he planned to one day enter the medical field.”
He is survived by his parents, Telese Gore and Lewis Gayle, his stepfather, Michael McDonald, two brothers, two sisters, grandparents and maternal great-grandparents.
