WASHINGTON – Congressman Antonio Delgado (D, NY-19) takes issue with Republican President Trump’s view that raising tariffs on Chinese imports will not impact American consumers.
The freshman lawmaker said the president is “dead wrong” in his interpretation of the effects.
“The fact of the matter is these tariffs are taxes and when the president says we’re not paying for it, he’s dead wrong; we are paying for it. Just look at the fact that we had to bail out our farmers most recently because of the impacts by virtue of the trade policies of the president.”
In a telephone news conference on Monday, Delgado also said his constituents are concerned about the Mueller report and talk of impeachment, workforce development and broadband coverage.
