POUGHKEEPSIE – What started out as an apparent domestic incident ended up with a standoff between police and a man barricaded inside a residence at 204 North Hamilton Street in Poughkeepsie late Tuesday morning.
About two hours later he gave up and walked out of the building.
City Police, their Emergency Services Unit and Dutchess County Sheriff’s deputies were on the scene.
The man gave up after his mother was brought in to talk to him. About 20 minutes later, he exited the house peacefully.
It was believed the man may have been wanted on a charge of criminal contempt.
