POUGHKEEPSIE – The Foodstock Fund, a Poughkeepsie-based organization that raises funds for local organizations that help feed the hungry, has donated $1,500 to Dutchess Outreach that will provide approximately 500 meals to individuals at their location in Poughkeepsie.

Ryan Michael of Foodstock said that “the goal of the Foodstock Fund is to create exciting and entertaining events for people to enjoy while simultaneously raising funds for local food-based organizations.”

He said the organization started in 2008 and has raised close to $50,000 in funding and non-perishable food items for Dutchess Outreach and provided the grand Thanksgiving buffet for the residents, staff and foster families of the Children’s Home of Poughkeepsie.

Tara Whalen, associate director of Dutchess Outreach said that “Ryan Michael, Angelo Lorenzo, and the volunteers at Foodstock provide a tremendous amount of support to Dutchess Outreach.  In trying economic times, Foodstock has been unwavering in their support.  We really appreciate all of the donors that attend both of their major fundraisers and their smaller drives.  It’s truly an honor to partner with them.”Foodstock holds two major fundraisers each year along with several smaller food drives to help the less fortunate.  The most notable events are Laughingstock, a comedy show that takes place in the spring at Laugh It Up Comedy Club and the Foodstock concert featuring live music from a variety of genres, held every fall at The Chance Theater.  Both venues are in Poughkeepsie.
