KINGSTON – An Ulster County Court jury’s conviction of a man on a criminal contempt charge has been affirmed by the Appellate Division of State Supreme Court.
In his appeal, William Knox argued the county court’s ruling allowing the prosecution to introduce evidence of his prior violent, controlling and abusive behavior against the victim was in error.
The appellate division ruled the county court did properly weigh the potential prejudicial effect of that evidence against its materiality and relevance to prove Knox’s motive, absence of mistake or accident and proof of the nature of his relationship with the victim.
