PEARL RIVER – Orangetown Police are investigating car break-ins that occurred on Christmas Eve. Video captured would-be thieves checking to see if vehicles were unlocked and if they were, they removed valuables.
One unlocked car was found with the keys inside and they stole the car.
A witness who spoke with police said they saw three suspects who made them feel the need to lock their own front door and shut the shades on the windows.
Orangetown Police remind residents that if they see something that makes them feel uncomfortable, they should call them at 845-359-3700.
Just as Santa checks his list twice to see if you are naughty or nice, police said motorist should check their car doors twice to ensure they are locked when left unattended.  Also, never leave valuables, including phones, GPS devices, in plain sight even in a locked car.
