CAMEL – Christmas came a few days early at the Putnam Humane Society but no one is complaining.
Thanks to the efforts of the ownership and staff at Meadowland of Carmel, more than 10,500 pounds of dog food was delivered to the animal shelter on Old Route 6 in Carmel Thursday courtesy of the auto dealership and its customers.
From Thanksgiving until Christmas, Meadowland discounted $250 from every vehicle purchased and in return the dealership asked customers to donate a 35-pound bag of dog food in the patron’s name.
Three hundred bags of dog food were purchased and donated to the shelter.
Michele Dugan, president of the Putnam Humane Society, was brought to tears by the community’s generosity. “We can never begin to say ‘thank you’ to our friends and supporters who care so much about our animals. We couldn’t exist without the help of the community since our expenses well exceed our contributions and donations.”
Dugan had special thanks for the Meadowland family – “Barbara Volz, her son Kenn, and the entire sales and service department staff are our heroes again this Christmas. Due to their customers we will have enough dog food again to last for the entire year.”
Barbara Volz said “This is what Christmas is all about,” adding “it makes all of us feel good.”
