WASHINGTON – Both Hudson Valley Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney (D, NY-18) and US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand are supporting the conference report to the 2018 farm bill.
Gillibrand said the bill contains most of the elements that she wanted in it.
“It protects the SNAP program and rejects the House work requirement that would have made a mass of paperwork for a lot of families and the benefit cuts they had,” Gillibrand said. “It improves the dairy insurance program by increasing coverage and lowering premiums.”
Maloney is supporting the bill because “it maintains the progress
we made for the Hudson Valley in the 2014 Farm Bill and even makes improvements
in key areas.”
