COXSACKIE – A Coxsackie man was killed in a fire that ripped through his house last Saturday evening.
Lawrence Connolly, 74, died in that blaze at his home at 53 Washington Avenue in the Village of Coxsackie. State Police said his wife was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. No one else was in the house at the time.
The cause continues to be investigated, but authorities said the preliminary determination is that the fire was caused by an occupant attempting to solder some pipes on the third floor.
State Police were assisted at the scene by the State Office of Fire Prevention and Control, Coxsackie Police Department, Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Fire investigation Team an Emergency Services, fire departments from Coxsackie, New Baltimore, Athens, Catskill, Coeymans Hollow, Medway-Grapeville, Greenville, Earlton, West Athens and City of Hudson.
