Set to accept inmates in 2019

MONTICELLO – The new Sullivan County Jail is essentially complete,
but it will be months before inmates will occupy it.
County Manager Joshua Potosek said construction of a water line to the
facility from the Village of Monticello is progressing.
“We have kind of completed connections along Jefferson Street in the Village of Monticello and they are now working toward the water tower, so that is moving as expected and we are hopeful with the weather holding out that they will continue the next couple of months to get all that work done.”
If all goes according to plan, Potosek said inmates could be transferred from the more than 100-year-old jail to the new facility next spring or summer.
