YONKERS – A fire at a
one-story building at 131 Park Avenue in Yonkers has claimed the life
of a 69-year-old woman.
Ida Martinez was a resident of that address. She was transported to a
local hospital where she was pronounced dead. No one else was injured.
The fire was reported before 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
Police officers conducted traffic and crowd control during the fire operations.
Detectives from the Yonkers Police Fire Investigation Unit, Major Case
Unit, and Crime Scene Unit in collaboration with the Yonkers Fire and
Arson Investigation Unit are continuing to investigate the cause of the
fire. There has been no determination of the cause.
