TOWN OF THOMPSON – A 25-year-old Montgomery woman was killed in
the early evening Monday when the car she was driving was struck by a
tractor-trailer.

Sullivan County Undersheriff Eric Chaboty said Emily Henry was driving
a 2015 Honda Civic eastbound in the passing lane on Route 17 in the Town
of Thompson just after 5 p.m. when it struck the center median guide rail,
bounced off, crossed the passing lane and into the path of the truck.

That vehicle was traveling eastbound in the driving lane when the front
driver’s wheel crushed the passenger compartment of the Honda seriously
injuring Henry.

She was transported to Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris by Mobile
Medic ambulance and later transferred to Orange Regional Medical Center
in the Town of Wallkill where she died.

The driver of the truck, Joshua Hill, 27, of Waterloo, New York, was uninjured.

Both vehicles were impounded. The tractor-trailer is being inspected by
the State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit.

The State Department of Transportation and Monticello Fire Department
assisted at the scene.

The investigation is continuing.

Route 17 eastbound was shut down for three hours between exits 107 and
108.
