MID-HUDSON – There are seven counties in the state’s Mid-Hudson Valley region for purposes of Empire State Development Corporation’s priorities projects competition. Twenty-one projects have been rated as “proposed priority projects” in the consolidated funding application process, none of which is in Putnam County.
The Mid-Hudson Regional Economic Development Council, comprised of area leaders, has rated the projects, with final funding awards to be announced by the end of the year.
The state’s Hudson Valley Regional Economic Development Director, Megan Taylor, said hopefully Putnam will make it to the list next year.
“We have been actively working with Putnam County to try to identify various projects that they would submit,” Taylor said. “It just so happened that this year there were very few projects that were truly ready to go.”
Orange County had seven, the most projects proposed for a portion of
the $20 million in state funding. Ulster County had five projects; Westchester
had four; Sullivan and Dutchess each had two projects and Rockland had
one.
