WHITE PLAINS – A former White plans resident was sentenced to 10 years of probation in Westchester County Court for attempting to lure a child to engage in sexual activity. He must register as a sex offender. The Court approved his probation transfer to Erie County where he resides.
Rivu Dey, a chemical engineer, pleaded guilty Aug. 21, 2018, to one count of attempted criminal sexual act, a felony. This charge specifically states the defendant attempted to engage in a sex act with “another person less than 15 years old.”
From about three weeks in late 2017, Dey communicated with an undercover criminal investigator of the District Attorney’s Office whom Dey believed was the stepfather of a child who was being made available for sexual activity. Dey arranged to meet the undercover officer and the child at an agreed-upon location. Based upon their online communications, Dey believed the child and the undercover officer would be waiting for him.
