LAGRANGEVILLE – Physician residency programs at Health Quest hospitals are expected to start in July 2019 and to that end the healthcare organization has begun interviewing candidates for three residency programs – surgery, internal medicine and family medicine.
“These three residency programs are just the beginning for Health Quest’s shift into academic medical training,” said Dr. Christopher Stenberg, vice president of Graduate Medical Education. The hope is that after their training is complete, many will choose to stay in the Hudson Valley to practice medicine.
The family residency program is the latest approved by the Accrediting Council for Graduate Medical Education. It joins the surgery and internal medicine residency programs, which were approved earlier this year.
The family medicine residency program is a three-year residency that will accept eight candidates per year with the goal of 24 total by the time the first class is in its final year.
The Health Quest organization includes Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel and Sharon Hospital in Sharon, Connecticut.
