MONTICELLO – A Monticello man is under arrest after he was caught burglarizing an occupied residence in the village on Sunday morning and was held by a resident until the police arrived.
Monticello Police charged Stephen Straker, Jr., 25, with felony burglary and misdemeanor petit larceny after he allegedly broke into the home around 7:45 a.m.
A female occupant had awakened to find Straker committing the burglary and then climbing out a bedroom window with two stolen iPads.
Straker was pursued by another occupant outside the home where he detained him.
Straker was sent to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail pending further court action.
