SAUGERTIES – A 59-year-old
woman has been arrested on a charge or harassment for allegedly going
door to door at the Birches apartment complex, ringing doorbells and telling
residents they had to evacuate because the building was on fire. There
was no building fire.

Veronica Morvay of Saugerties was charged with harassment.

When she was confronted by a Birches employee, she slapped the worker
in the face telling the person to leave her along while insisting the
building was on fire.

Saugerties Police were called to the scene and police took Morvay into
custody. She was issued an appearance ticket to Saugerties Town Court
and transported to the Health Alliance Hospital Broadway campus in Kingston
for a mental health evaluation.
