WHITE PLAINS – A Yonkers man was indicted by a Westchester County grand jury on assault and other charges related to two random stabbings in the City of Yonkers in July and August.
Raheem Nelson, 21, faces five counts including two assault charges and three misdemeanors – one count of menacing and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. He is in the Westchester County Jail pending a future court appearance.
Prosecutors allege that on the afternoon of August 7, 2018, Nelson encountered a man near 6 Riverview Place in Yonkers and stabbed him with a screwdriver. The victim managed to walk into a building where a Good Samaritan called police. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
A surveillance video showed Nelson during the incident. He was arrested on August 9.
In an earlier incident on July 11, Nelson stabbed a victim with a knife.
