Rockland measles cases on the rise

NEW CITY – The number of confirmed cases of measles in Rockland County has risen from 40 reported days ago to 46. The number of suspected cases that remain under investigation by the county health department is nine.
Most of the cases involve children and center in the Monsey and Spring Valley area with strict rules in place about required school absences among children who have not been vaccinated with the measles, mumps, and rubella serum.
The county health department continues to investigate the spread of the highly contagious disease.
