Liberty man accused of using dead man’s SNAP benefits card

LIBERTY – Police arrested a Liberty man for allegedly using a state SNAP benefits card of an individual who had died in late September.
The investigation resulted in obtaining evidence that the benefit card had been used twice to purchase items at a local business, allegedly by Ricky Morgan, 55, after the individual’s death.
Morgan was charged with two counts of criminal possession of stolen property
and one count of misuse of food stamps. He was sent to the Sullivan County
Jail without bail pending a future court appearance.
The case was investigated jointly by Liberty Village Police and the Sullivan
County Welfare Fraud Task Force.
