GOSHEN – Orange County
Executive Steven Neuhaus is expected to be deployed to the Middle East
as part of a three to nine month active duty mission early next year in
his role as a lieutenant commander in the Navy Reserves.

He anticipates being called up in early 2019.

Neuhaus said he has “an obligation to fulfill my commitment as a
member of the armed services” and he expects his “tremendous
leadership team” and the county workforce to “continue to
work diligently for the taxpayers of Orange County.”

His military commitment has drawn kudos from a number of public officials
including Port Jervis Mayor Kelly Decker, a retired member of the 105th
Airlift Wing of the New York Air National Guard at Stewart Airport. He
said he understands Neuhaus’ commitment he made when promising to
protect the country. “I encourage every resident of Orange County
to support our men and women in uniform that are deployed to protect our
freedoms and I certainly wish him Godspeed and a safe return.”
