WHITE PLAINS – A Westchester County Court jury found a Mount Vernon man guilty of attempted rape and other charged following a trial that ended Friday before County Court Judge Susan Cacace.
Thomas Jessamy, 58, was convicted of attempted rape, assault, unlawful imprisonment, and assault. When sentenced in December he faces up to 15 years in state prison.
On June 21, 2017 Jessamy attacked the woman he previously knew in his apartment. He assaulted her, demanded she remove her clothes, and attempted to rape her. He repeated his attempts and beatings over a course of four hours of her captivity despite her protests.
The victim called police on her cell phone twice while in the apartment bathroom but was unable to give police an address.
When Jessamy let her go, she walked to a nearby church where she called police again. From there she was taken to Westchester Medical Center where she was treated for head trauma, a fractured rib and other injuries.
