PEARL RIVER – High, gusty
winds and heavy rains are expected to pound the region late Friday and
through the day on Saturday resulting in a Storm Watch being declared
by Orange and Rockland Utilities.
Severe storm activity, especially since most leaves remain on trees, has the potential to cause tree, utility pole and power line damage, and possibly widespread electric service interruptions.
O&R said its emergency storm response team is preparing to repair damage and restore power as necessary.
Sustained winds Saturday are expected to range from 15 to 25 miles per hour with gusts to 45 mph. Heavy downpours are expected through the day with rain totals ranging from a half-inch to two inches. The worst of the storm will be along the coast.  Further inland, the impact will be less severe.
