NEW YORK – The Port Authority Board of Directors gave the final approval on Thursday for construction of the $37 million international arrivals facility at the New York Stewart International Airport passenger terminal.
Domestic and international passengers must be segregated at airports.  Currently at the Newburgh area facility, a movable wall is used when overseas flights arrive.
The only comment from the Port Authority Board before the vote came from Vice Chairman Jeffrey Lynford. “I think it’s just a wonderful fourth airport and I commend everyone to go up there and use it,” he said.
J. Jokolakis Contracting has been selected to build the new wing on the terminal.
It was also announced at the Port Authority Board session that Stewart
and its three New York metropolitan area jetport sisters will offer free
Wi-Fi service in the future.
