Homes evacuated when contractor hits gas main

Crews worked on repairing broken natural gas main

NEW CITY – Four homes were evacuated late Friday morning after
a contractor digging in the area of Reservoir Drive and Waters View in
New City accidentally struck and broke a natural gas main.

Orange and Rockland Utilities responded to repair the leak and New City
firefighters were on the scene as a safety precaution.

No injuries were reported.
