KINGSTON – A 76-year-old Kingston man suffered what city police
said was a medical emergency before 2 p.m. on Tuesday, while in his car,
and struck the rear of a special needs school bus after striking a utility
pole and street sign at the intersection of Hasbrouck and Foxhall avenues.
When the medical emergency subsided, his vehicle decelerated and rolled backwards coming to rest next to a fenced in property of the Broadway campus of Health Alliance of the Hudson Valley.
When he struck the utility pole, cable TV and telephone wires fell onto a Kingston DPW truck and a school bus that had no students onboard. The wires were removed by Kingston firefighters and the elderly driver was taken to a hospital along with a 15-year-old student from the special needs bus.
The investigation is continuing.
