TOWN OF THOMPSON – A Monticello man was killed when his car was struck head-on by a wrong-way driver on Route 17 in the Town of Thompson Tuesday night.
State Police said a Toyota, driven by Patrick Collins, 50, of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, was head east in the westbound lane of the highway at 10:15 when he struck a westbound Honda.
Luis Diaz, 33, of Monticello, the driver of the Honda, died at the scene. His passenger, Cynthia Acevedo, 27, of Monticello, was flown to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.
Collins was also flown to Westchester Medical Center.
The investigation is continuing. Police are asking anyone with information about the crash to call them at 845-888-2681.
