TOWN OF THOMPSON – A Monticello
man was killed when his car was struck head-on by a wrong-way driver on
Route 17 in the Town of Thompson Tuesday night.
State Police said a 2015 Toyota, driven by Patrick Collins, 50, of East
Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, was driving east in the westbound lane of the
highway at 10:15 when he struck a 2002 Honda traveling west.
Luis Diaz, 33, of Monticello, the driver of the Honda, was pronounced
dead at the scene. His passenger, Cynthia Acevedo, 27, of Monticello,
was flown to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.
Collins was also flown to Westchester Medical Center.
The investigation is continuing and police are asking anyone with information
about the crash to call them at 845-888-2681.
