WHITE PLAINS – An inmate at the Westchester County Jail pled guilty in Westchester County Court on Thursday to assaulting two corrections officers, one in December 2017 and one in January 2018.
John Wooten, 37, pled guilty to two counts of felony assault. He faces up to seven years in state prison for each charge when sentenced next month. Wooten was being held in the jail on a felony charge of criminal mischief in connection with an incident at 25 Operations Drive in Mount Pleasant on December 19, 2017.
“Corrections officers do a dangerous and important job,” said District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. “They should know that any attack on any one of them within the county jail will be prosecuted and we will see that justice is done.”
